Adding some Romance to the Shop

With Valentines Day next month & the Holiday rush over, I have been rearranging & adding some soft romantic vignettes to the shop.

I found this white Angel Vase & had to have it! I added some ivy & roses & luv the shabby simplicity of the piece.

I am also starting to put together Gift baskets, for easy shopping & gift giving

This one has a Lace Scarf, French Soap & Lotion included.

Now that the Holiday decorations are down, if you have a bare corner or space that needs a little something special, we got it!

My Home at Christmas

I thought I would share some of my favorite parts from my home during the holidays. I gave the kids thier own tree so my tree is beautiful & victorian & pink with cream!!

Here is Elfie, he watches over the children & moves every nite. He likes the Dining room best!

The Fire Place was a gift last year.

I had fun glitzing it up real good this year!

My mom made all or stockings, counted cross stich. My husbands & mine are the same, & still my favorite!! SO classic victorian!

We do a full Christmas Carol Village. This year it is broken up into the city & the country. Too big to fit in one room, there is over 40 buildings.....

And best part of my Holiday Home is my Babies!! The Holidays are amazing threw the eyes of a child! They help you marvel in the little things.

Its almost Halloween

Its late October?? The Holidays are around the corner?? How did this happen??

Well, all Fall Decor is 25% off in the shop. All glittered Pumpkins, Sunflower Decor, Halloween plates.

We started decorating for Christmas too. There are trees up, gifts under the tree, lights twinkling. Lots of great gift ideas!!

Mid October Happeningsss. . .

So here is our little Booth at the Apple Festival.

It was a beautiful Fall day!! But quite windy.... so windy in fact that 10 mins before the official open of the show, our tent blows up & away 2 rows over!! Soooo very embarrassing, but thank god no one was hurt.

So we were in full sun all day, and lost most of my hanging items, no room for them. But looked very festive anyway!

My friend makes the Aprons, I adore this Christmas Cupcake apron!! They will be in the shop for an adorable Christmas Display till Christmas :o)

Here are the New Glitter Houses I have made.

Three different sizes & the top comes off & you can put LED candles inside or little treasures. They are hand painted & glittered. I bleached & decorated bottle brush trees. There is a full collection of hand painted ornaments also in the shop.

I started some Holiday Displays at the Shop today ~

I trimmed the tree, but is not finished yet. . .

This is the first year I am really offering Red for Christmas!! But of course it is Vintage Inspired. More ornaments due in this week.

These Gold deer are stunning!

Happy October!!

Altho I am not a big fan of Halloween, I LUV October!! School has started & kids are settaled in, the weather starts to cool off & the days get shorter & cozzier.

Moved some pieces around in the shop. Since Halloween is on its way, my son thought the Black Desk belongs up front in the window. The glass halloween plates look awsome on the black!

Brought in a new tall dresser, really Shabby & Chippy! Was mine & we got a new bedroom set, so to the shop it goes.

On top is the new display of the French Bath Products.

We will have a Booth at the Apple Festival in Sayville

Exit Zero, the end of The Garden State Parkway is the most charming, romantic, Victorain Beach Town I have ever seen!! Living on Long Island, we have lots of charming adorable towns, but Cape May is a step back in time!

This was our B&B ~ Angel of the Sea ~

Voted the 2nd best B&B in North America. Amazing retreat!!

Just steps from the Ocean. Once you do get to the beach, tons of shells to search for, watch out in the ocean, there are Dolphins playing every where!

Wonderful Shops everywhere. Antique stores galore filled with Victorian treasures.

Beach Ave is lined with nostalgic motels, restaurants & incredible Victorian homes.

A must see town for the victorain lover & someone in desperate need for some R&R!!

~ I found some great new furniture to put in the shop! Shabby & sweet and just what I have been looking for!

Adorable little secretary desk, there is a few little spaces inside for notecards & treasures. Shabby curved legs, drop down front & a sweet little chair to go with it!

Then I found a vanity, really cute shape, painted her all white, lined the drawers with pink shabby paper, added glass knobs, ya know the usual I do to a new treasure I find!

Great for a little girls room, or a grown girl who wants a special place to sit & feel pretty!!

I'm just thrilled to offer these new items to you!! Also to have them to play around with, trying new displays & vignettes.

New Display Table

We are coming right along....

I am waiting for one last delivery. I ordered some cool jewelry & more small gifts.

I found this beat up sweet little table, on the side of the road! But I forgot to take a before pic, I get so excited to start projects I forget befores.

It was so dirty & the leather on top was ripped bad. So I gave it a face lift!!

I added some sheet music to the top, distressed & atiqued it a bit. The whole table has a new white coat of paint. Luv it!!!

I am using it to display the jewelry I have on order.

I made a tree to display it on & can't wait to finish it up!!

I play, & paint & decorate all day long.

Inside the new home of B. Catherine Designs . . .

Here is some pics of the front room when you walk in. Then it bumps out to my office area.

I have my bags behind me, lots of ribbons, tissue paper, printer, & lots of goodies. Everything within easy reach.

I just adore this stationary!! The goodies they have at holiday time is to die for! Untill I find a Fab desk to display, the glass top & collums works just fine.

Ribbon Cutting

~ Grand Opening ~

We had the Ribbon Cutting last nite!

Our family was with to celebrate with us! Alex helped cut the ribbon.

Alex was rushing to geet in the pic too, but looks like he's pushin Daddy.

We are almost there. . . . .

We have been working like crazzy at the shop!!

Today the sign was installed!!!

Almost all set up inside, just need to tag everything.

I found this great little conversation bench on the side of the road.

After a good cleaning & some warm shabby paint, just too sweet!!

Its perfect out front, with some flowers & my Shabby Lane Shops mag's, perfect spot to sit & rest a while. My kids fit perfectly on it to!

I have so many favorite spots in the shop and this is one of them! I just adore these angel chairs.

I found this little treasure in Lake George & knew I had to have it for over my desk. The perfect amount of sparkle!

We have so much done & Grand Opening is Friday!!

My dream is coming true & its so hard to believe its really happening!!

We are opening a Shop!!!

This is my dream come true!!

We are opening a store front!!

1232A Grundy Avenue in Holbrook

This all happened in about 4 days, saw the shop & got the key! So far we have been busy painting everything & ordering shop supplies.

I am adding a special wall treatment to the front room when you walk in.

My Husband rocks!! He painted the entire side room while I fauxed, its a huge room too! All with our 2 kids playing & our furry daughter playing beside us.

We had a couple misshaps. We thought, sure let the kids paint the radiators outside, keep them busy.

So in case you can't tell, my son steped in paint, his shoes are recked, ohh & this was on mothers day. So we had to run for new shoes before meeting the family out for diner!

Crazzy, hard working, beautiful Mother's Day!!

So while driving to a friends house with the kids, I see out of the corner of my eye, a dining room set on the side of the road. I pull over & ask the man if its really for trash?? They family is moving & does not need the set anymore. Its a 3 yr old set, in great condition & beautiful. So in my car it goes!!! Now I have a Dining Room set for the shop!

While loading the furniture in my car & making trips back & forth to my house, we need to stop & watch the family of geese try to decide what side of street they want to be on.

Keeping the kids happy watching this sweet little family go back & forth, back & forth, traffic stopping, all while the kids are telling each other "mommies crazzy, we are late for our play date!" Only I find these treasures on the side of the road!! Its a surprise, I will show the set soon :o)

As work gets done I will post more pics & share more stories.

This is an amazing journey & we are all so very excited!!

As my dream of owning a Shop comes true!!

Nashville Southern Women's Show

Wow!! What a beautiful city! The ladies look wonderful, they sure love great hair & beautiful jewelry here! The food is delish, ohhhh.... and our booth is to Die For!!!

Easter is on its way. . .

Easter is one of our families favorite Holidays!! The soft pastel colors, the freshness & the warm weather! There is the Easter Bunny that brings treats & gifts to the little ones, a hunt to be the first to find an egg! Then a lavish yummy dinner with friends & family.

Here is a Rabbit I offered last year, he is the last one left & I had to have him! He looks so sweet in my pink depression glass bowl. I think I need to change out the rose buds with some jelly beans. . .

I found this green & yellow bunny tea set a few years back & feel in luv with it!! I always decorate this breakfront in my dining room for the hoidays. The "Easter" garland is a piece I had to keep too, its glittered & has Vintage Easter images & ribbon ~ all my favorite things!

This is for my kids. The Easter Nursery, complete with plants for sale, baby chicks & bunnies & a sweet spring front yard.

(I bought this wayyyy before I had little ones, I have always been a kid at heart!) The perfect touch to our mantle.

Not sure why I didn't try this before.... Luv this basket & these are my hand painted glittered rose eggs. I am now offering them together, for a grown up Easter Basket.

It is warming up finally. Been a long cold winter! We all have Spring fever in our house. I will share pics as gardening gets done.

Signs of Spring

This weekend was just beautiful!! Racked the lawn a bit, played outside a bit, took a walk ~ Spring is in the air! I had bought some plants last weekend to dress up the porch a bit for my daughters party. Here are some Pink & White Prim Roses.

Then while the kids were playing in the front I found the 1st true sign of Spring . . .

Tiny & Yellow and barely poking threw the leaves, but he is there!! Sunny Yellow & ready to show off. Now we just need to see a Robin & it will be official!

I hope it is warming up & flowers are popping up by your home too!!

It is sooo cold & snowy & wintery here in NY. But for now, thought I would show you a collection of my feavorite Valentine Pretties. How did October slip away so fast?? We had a great one, the weather has been wonderful in NY!! The trees are really starting to turn now. The kids are taking such notice too.

We did our pumpkin picking, sooo much fun!!

Sam is such a little ham now! She has enough hair for braids, too cute!!

We found a great field with gourds & wonderful pumpkins. Alex found some cool ones for me!

I meet Alex's class on the school trip at a farm on the north shore. This sweet little pony wasn't too fond of the noisy kids, I stayed back to get a couple pics. After this shoot, she came over to me & let me pet her & spend some time. I just adore animals!! If I had a farm of my own, forget it, I would have all kinds!

I asked (begged!!) my hubby for these tables for my Bday. I just luv the size, shape, just perfect! I painted them white......

I just luv them!!!

I have also been working on some new projects for the shop. This little Shabby Village is new:

Dining Room changes

My dining room is one of my favorite rooms in the house. I was tired of this piece, its great, just needed a change

Soooo, I have been looking and while running out to get Halloween coustums, I see this!!

I call my sis in law to help me get in home, she already knows I'm nuts. I just LUV the lines & saw the shabby beauty it could have.

Same day, my daughter & I go out to sand & paint. She is 2 1/2, she painted the back.

My hubby comes home to find this masive buffet in the driveway. He is used to me changing up things, poor guy!!

So we bring it in & start thinking...

Here were some of my inspirations...

The knobs came on the buffet & I found the pink & white liner at Home Goods, luv it there!!

Fall is almost here. . .

Sorry friends, I am not a big fan of Summer heat! My mom is a teacher & she's off for the summer & we spend lots of time together, but it could be in the 70's & I'd like it a lot better.

So, Fall is my favorite season!!! The colors, the smells of the cool crisp fresh air, the sounds of crunching leaves, its all so wonderful!

As you all know, I garden. I have a very tierd looking veggie garden, and along the back I threw a bunch of sunflower seeds. I can bring cuttings in every few days of these sunny beauties!! Some are almost 8 ft tall.

Had to share one of my favorite pics from our summer outings. The kids went off exploring at the Game Farm & found this. My son is not worried at all about the Lost Childern house, but the baby is looking up at her brother, "are we lost?" ~ Too sweet ~

Well, the upcoming season also gives me energy & inspiration. So, I have lots of projects in the works & will share soon!

~ I don't think I ever shared these here! They are just too sweet for words & a dear friend gave me the idea.

~ I believe design is in the details ~

Its the little things that make a gift or gesture that much more special.

I have designed these gift tags in the shapes of dress forms. Some are Birthday Greetings, the others can be used for any occasion.

There is lace at the skirt & would not be complete with out Glitter!!

I also adore Christmas!! So Christmas in July is the perfect excuse for me to get started early. I have new ornaments & Christmas Decor to offer this year. Again I have combined my luv for digital images with embelishments.

my 1st mosaic project

I love all the beautiful items the mosaic artists make, I had to try it. This is my 1st attempt, please dont judge me, it has many problems & needs a bit more grout, but here was the process.

This table is very old, was my parents they had tiled it years ago. I cracked out the tiles & upolsetered it & used it as an ottoman.

Then I wanted a mosaic top & here you have it

It was fun crashing up all the tiles & china.

Then spent hours & hours trying to fill all the little holes. Even the kids helped!

The grout process, I ran out twice, 3 gashes on my fingers & still need to add more grout!

Like I said, there are many flaws, the oval in the center was supposed to be a circle, the tiles are not all the same thickness, so there are low spots, but I enjoy my colorful shabby mosaic table on my front porch!

After some finishing touches, it will be the perfect accent for my morning coffee & my nite time Merlo, now if I can just keep the kids icepops off it!!!

This is my first time joining in this event. Sounded like fun & I have a couple I's & J's in one piece!

I image, vintage image from my digital collection. I luv her!

J junk! If you can call this incredible frame JUNK! It was gold & dusty

I also added glitter & crystals & paper roses & her shawl.

But the frame & image were Vintage

A dear friend of mine is throwing a shower for her daughter that is getting married in the fall. She is very victorian & vintage at heart, just like me. She asked me to design a few things for her. Here is what I did.

I designed Menus, Thank you's & Place cards. The thank you has a vicorian image of a Mom & Daughter, so beautiful!

Its special touches like this that make a shower or special event so wonderful!

My roses are slowly taking off!! The iris's look wonderful!

I can not wait to share my New Dawn on the arbor, but it is not in bloom just yet.

Here is my Climbing Peace, I am training it to go up the side of the house & this is what I see out my Kitchen door.

Right now it is climbing up the fence, love it there!

Here is some of the iris's & my favorite bird bath. Seems to be the birds favorite also

I adore roses, but, when my Peoney blooms, ohhhh boy!!

As more opens & becomes beautiful, I will share more.

Take some time to listen to the birds sing & of course, to smell the flowers!

A wonderful day spent out with Hubby....

Today was a date day. With 2 small kids, we don't get many of those! Off to Grandma's they went & we were off.

They are east of where I live & I pass by this interexting place all the time & never get to stop in. Today I dragged Hubby & stoped. Well, what a wonderful surprise!!

May 1st at the Beach

Living on Long Island is a wonderful thing, you can get to the beach in less then a half hour. I worked most of the day & couldn't wait to get home, pick up hubby & the kids & head to the beach. We stayed only about the hour, but I took about 60 pictures!!

We went to the north shore, its rocker but the kids loved throwing rocks in the water & finding pretty colors & shells.

The kids dug holes & even played in the water a bit.

And to top it all off, a lady bug landed on Sammy!!! It was a wonderful time & just a taste of so many great times to come this summer. The warm beautiful weather is just starting!!

The 1st true sign Spring is here!! My crocuses are blooming. I look foward to their cute little blooms every year!

Alex is pro now with his car. Sam still luvs to go for rides with him around the block & in the back... but....

Now she has her own!!!
She has no idea how to steer & thank goodness it only goes straight, we have all spring & summer to learn!

The kids & I have Spring Fever!! It was about 60 degrees today & sunny & wonderful!!

I promised to try to be more organized this year. I want to paint & create more treasures for B. Catherine Designs & need to be surrounded by inspiration & organization, or my brain gets too cluttered!! I don't need more cluttering in my delicate little brain!!! LOL

A new Shabby Christmas House....

I found these cute little houses at my local crafts store. I can not get my fav's that I just sold out of, so was looking for a way to make my own. I may still try to lite them too. They are smaller & of course my 'look'.

I painted them, added roses, of course!! under the windows & then covered in glitter. Then put them out on my Cake Stand & added a little snow.

I may try to add these to my shop next year & make more, but wanted to see if there was any interest.

Thanks for looking. I need to do a whole lot more decorating, but this is a start!! I want to add glitter to the snow too, for extra glitzzzz

Our new Beautiful Shabby Piece!!

So since the fireplace, that I am enjoying ohh soo much, the rest of the room needed a few tweeks. We got a new flat screen for the wall, (finally!!) & needed a piece to put the components in. So I went to my local Gararge sale- warehouse place & found this!!!!!

It was a mess! Filthy & pelling finish, & not even one color. My husband thought I was nuts!! It is 6 feet long & carved to the shabby top, its wonderful.

Ohh did I mention I paid $48!!!! & they delivered & took my old ugly huge heavy 36" tv. I still can't believe that is all I spent!!

So I got it home after working all day, had a terrible headache, but just HAD to paint it white!!

Today my husband put the cable box & stuff in the middle section & we put the village on top.

Here it is painted, let me know what you think..... :o)

I haven't finished painting it yet, but too much to do before christmas. Its in the room & painted & I love it!!!

Our early Christmas Present!

Shabby, electric & wonderful, I adore this fireplace. I have wanted one since we bought this house. It is the perfect fit for our little French Shabby home

Sammy likes it too!! Poseing for a picture! Best part is, it stays cool to the touch so she can't get hurt. There is a heating element for cold nites, but I just love to watch the fire burn. Can't wait to put our Hand made Stockings hanging..... I will post pics of that too!

I have been all about business lately on my blog, sorry about that!!

Living on Long Island, we are only about 15 minutes from the beach & I have been taking the kids & they love it!!! My son is 4 & such a little engineer, makes castles, looks for shells. My daughter is almost 17 months & loves to just dig & feel the sand between her little chubby toes & fingers.

Sam was too young last year & we didn't get to the beach much. Not so this year!! I should have some tan by August Ha ha ha

June is here!! I am getting ready for "Everything is Coming Up Roses" at

B. Catherine Designs. I decorated my front porch & wanted to share pictures with you. I just love sitting here with the kids, or with a cup of coffee & my favorite magazine. This is also my favorite place to sit & visit with a friend once the weather is warmer.

It has been a LONG COLD SNOWY winter here on Long Island. I just had to share a little touch of Spring......Here is the first Crocus I found in my Garden. My Son & I have started racking out the beds so the sun can warm the soil & all the other signs of life can warm up too! We haven't done this one yet, I didn't want to disturb this little beauty...He makes me smile every time I look at his Sunny Yellow Face :O)

My Valentine's Day . . .

Just had to share this....

My son & I made a special little dessert for his Daddy for Valentine's Day. From Sandra Lee's Semi~Homemade Desserts,

~ Raspberry Fondue ~

3/4 cup heavy cream

1 ~ 12 oz bag of premier white morsels (nestle)

2/3 cup seedless red raspberry jam

1/4 cup white chocolate liqueur (Godiva-optional)

So very delicious!!!

We dipped strawberries, butter cookies, marshmellows & Meringues. I made those too, but didn't use the parchment paper & all broke up, they were supposed to be hearts.....use the parchment paper!! We also dipped munchkins, my 3 year olds idea, and a VERY good one I might add!!

You have to try this, so easy & I am still dipping everything I can think of in whats left over . .. yummmmmm.

Just wanted to share a great quote I found this morning, in a very unlikly place.
My 3 1/2 yr. old son thought his 11 month old baby sister would enjoy watching Baby Einstein's Baby Galileo. I put the movie on & as they sat together watching I heard this great quote:
All truths are easy to understand once they are discoved; the point is to discover them. ~ Galileo
There is so much to discover, in life, as inspiration, everywhere. Children discover something new every day, it's how they learn & grow.

To paint or not to paint. . . . .

We got a great deal on this table and I want to paint it white & shabby it up, & my husband isn't sure.

I just love the carving & detail on it thought it would look great painted white & distressed up a bit.

What do you think? I would love to hear your thoughts!!

I am going to slip cover my chairs also to make them to look like Parson's Chairs.

Our Christmas Tree

I wanted to share a pic of our Christmas tree. We all decorated it together as a family. Even my baby girl tried to help out by tasting some! Now just need to fill it up with presents Santa ;O)

My little boy is always ready to help! He is so carful with mommies ornaments

Even the dog has to be included! Always doing what ever the kids are doing.

My baby girl is in the 'pointing" stage, we had to talk about just about every ornement before it went on the tree. It is so wonderful to watch them marvel at the colors, lights & stories behind this magical season.

So many of my wonderful talented freinds at Shabby Lane Shops do beautiful hand painted items. This is a Believe sign I hand painted with tiny roses & glittered, think I am keeping. ( I am a bit addicted to glitter now) I have hung it in my Dining Room from my lighted garland & just love it! Just wanted to share.

snowman cookies

I wanted to share a fun & easy Cookie with you. These are one of my many favorites. They are made with Cream chesse & butter & are not very figure friendly....but very yummy! Add chocolate chip eyes & buttons & its even better!! The dough is sticky, but my little boy & I had a "ball" making these together.

1 8 oz softened philly cream cheese
1 Cup Powdered Sugar
3/4 Cup Butter (1 1/2 sticks)
1/2 tspn Vanilla
2 Cups Flour
1/2 tspn Baking Soda

~BAKE @ 325 for 19—21 MINS

* Suggested Decorations: Decorating gels, colored sprinkles, mini chips, & mini peanut butter cups

~ Mix Cream Cheese, Sugar, Butter & Vanilla on Med till well blended
~ Add Flour & Baking Soda, mix well
~ Shape dough into equal number of 1/2” & 1” balls. Using one size each, place balls slightly overlapping on cookie sheet.
Flatten to 1/4” thickness w/ bottom of a glass dipped in additional flour.
Cool on wire racks. Sprinkle each w. sifted powdered sugar.
Decorate & Cut peanut Butter cups in halves & place 1 on each for hats.

These are our finished cookies. This is about all my 3 year old had patience to finish! Not all got hats, because we ate quite a few too Hope you give it a try & add as much as you want to make this fat little guys even cuter! ENJOY!!

New Christmas

New Christmas Items are coming in from now untill Christmas! Here is my new lighted house. The smaller Pink & White Glitter Lighted House with the 3 Botlle Brush Trees has been my best seller, so I have added the larger size to add to your Vintage Inspired Village.

I have also been inspired by many of my friends at Shabby Lane Shops and tried to do some hand painted ornaments to offer you. Here is what I came up with.

Rose Hand Painted Glitter Wishes, can you get any more shabby and festive than that! Christmas is all about wishes......

I also offer a Vintage 50's style Dessert set. It is a service of 4 Dishes & Mugs in beautiful hat boxes to match. Wonderful Gift Item!

My Beautiful Fall Fairy!! She keep the wings & hat on all night!! This is a pic of the finished costume. I wanted to make her first halloween costume, I'm no seamstress, but I think it's adorable! Amazing what a hot glue gun & a little sewing can do......

Halloween is almost here.....I have been working, in my spare time ( haha) on my baby girls costume. It still needs wings and she is a bit bald, so maybe a hat, but this is it so far ~

We did a little pumpkin pickin too.

Big Brother is always looking out for his little sister. "Don't eat it" was the advise he gave her!

I had to share this! This was just the cutest little baby pig at the pumpkin farm! All he did was dig holes & run like crazzy, but isn't he the cutest little thing you ever did see?? Its about the size of the cows nose!!
